Norm Fell receives 'Great Deeds' award from Cooley

Cooley Professor and long time Ann Arbor resident Norman Fell has received Cooley Law School's Great Deeds Award in recognition of his outstanding service to the community. Professor Fell, who teaches Criminal Law at the Ann Arbor campus, has a long record of community involvement. He served on the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Senior Services for Washtenaw County and serves on the Board of Directors of the Tri-County Office of Aging. In addition, he has given numerous public presentations on legal rights and services for the elderly. Fell has also devoted years of work to secure relief for wrongfully convicted individuals in the form of DNA testing to prove innocence. He participated in the National Innocence Project Conferences and committee for creation of National Project Network. He has also worked tirelessly with the National Innocence Project and the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in creating and promoting model legislation addressing systemic problems with the criminal justice system and wrongful convictions. Professor Fell collaborated with Innocence Projects at the University of Wisconsin, Cardozo Law School and Northwestern University and was instrumental in the start up of Cooley's Innocence Project.
