Clark Hill employees volunteer in large numbers to feed hungry

 Clark Hill PLC employees and family members throughout Michigan (in Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids) and in Chicago, Phoenix and Washington, DC areas donated time and effort June 26 to feed the hungry during volunteering’s “off-season.”

The law firm’s Clark Hill Cares program started out in 2008 with the decision not to mail holiday cards and to substitute an initiative to make a real difference in the communities the firm serves. Clark Hill sent out a survey asking those who would normally have received the cards which of three community service programs they preferred. The overwhelming answer was to help feed hungry people. Last year, Clark Hill teamed up with Feeding America food banks, and in West Michigan volunteers went to the Feeding America site in Comstock Park. Clark Hill Cares efforts resulted in more than 15,000 meals provided in January 2010, and more than 200 volunteers in June 2009.
The response from Feeding America was so gratifying that Clark Hill decided to continue Clark Hill Cares, passing up the holiday cards in favor of supporting the same cause. A team of Clark Hill employees and their families and friends showed up at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, to help with packing and sorting food which goes to pantries and agencies servicing the hungry.
