Foley & Lardner celebrates 10 years in its Michigan office

Foley & Lardner LLP celebrated the 10th anniversary of the firm’s Detroit office with a reception hosted Wednesday, Nov. 3. As one of the only national law firms to open an office in Detroit, Foley assembled a group of eight attorneys in October 2000 to offer Michigan businesses local access to the firm’s national resources and capabilities. Since that opening, Foley has grown to more than 40 attorneys in the Detroit office, serving Michigan clients in a variety of industries.

Steven H. Hilfinger, Detroit office managing partner and one of the founding partners in the office, welcomed guests at the firm’s 10th anniversary reception. The other remaining founding partners are Mark Aiello, Sal Barbatano, Ray Carey and John Trentacosta.  Hilfinger then shared a congratulatory message sent by Governor-elect Rick Snyder. Snyder praised Foley for its integrity and strong commitment to serving the Detroit community. He also recognized the firm’s corporate social responsibility, including the creation and implementation of the Improving Detroit Through Entrepreneurship Advancement (IDEA) program, designed to teach entrepreneurship skills to students at Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School in Detroit.

Throughout the celebratory evening, Foley attorneys and staff were joined by friends, colleagues and fellow community members to commemorate the firm’s involvement in the Detroit community for the past decade.
