County announces Family Market Day

Oakland County Commissioner Marcia Gershenson, the Oakland County Health Division, Oakland Schools, Oakland County Parks and Recreation, Oakland County Youth Assistance, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, Health Plus, Beaumont Hospital, Medical Network One, YMCA, the Baldwin Center, Michigan State University Extension, and Botsford Hospital are part of the nutritionally focused Healthy Oakland Partnership.
The Healthy Oakland Partnership (HOP) announces Family Market Day at Oakland County's Farmers' Market in Waterford to promote eating fresh fruits, vegetables and physical activities for all. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is located at 2350 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.
At this event, there will be many activities for the public to enjoy such as:
* Free fun activities for kids.
* Yoga to stretch the body and mind.
* Blood pressure and cholesterol health screenings.
* A chance to win prizes and receive giveaways.
* A limited amount of coupons will be available for seniors over 65, WIC clients and anyone with EBT, bridge cards or food assistance cards by contacting Suzanne Weinert at (248) 452-9174.
