Butzel Long's pro bono legal service positively impacts Young Detroit Builders

Several Butzel Long attorneys met with Beverly Manick, executive director of Young Detroit Builders, during a graduation/open house event on Thursday, July 28. For more than 10 years, Butzel Long attorneys have provided legal assistance to Young Detroit Builders (YDB) on a variety of employment, insurance, real estate and corporate matters. Young Detroit Builders is an educational training program that helps qualified low income young adults ages 18-24 earn their GEDS while getting hands-on construction training. They also participate in community service projects and earn a living allowance during the full-time, 8-10 month training program. Butzel Long attorneys have saved YDB tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees over the past 10 years and supported it's primary fundraiser, The Showdown in Motown, which take place this year on Sept. 23. "Young Detroit Builders is an incredible organization with an important mission," said Robin Luce Herrmann, attorney and a member of Butzel Long's Pro Bono Committee. "The Young Detroit Builders educational program is offering qualified individuals an opportunity for a brighter future." Throughout its more than 150 years, Butzel Long has a history of public service, particularly assisting clients who could otherwise not afford legal representation. Providing quality pro bono legal services is a priority for Butzel Long. The firm's lawyers, from the newest associate to members of the Board of Directors, use their expertise and training to make a difference each year, providing thousands of hours to those in need through a wide range of programs and relationships.
