Discussion to explore careers in international law, Sept. 19

Wayne State University Law School's Program for International Legal Studies will host a panel discussion on careers in international law at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, in the Law School's Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium. A group of international law practitioners will describe the most effective path to a career in international law, whether in private practice, as in-house counsel or in government. The panel features: * Michael T. Cone, '94, administrative law, customs and international trade attorney with McCullough, Ginsberg, Montano, and Partners LLP in New York. * Silvia Kleer, '95, attorney in the Global Trade and Transactions Group of the Office of the General Counsel of Ford Motor Company. * Gurinder Singh, '07, attorney with Miller Canfield specializing in international transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic corporate structuring utilizing treaty-friendly jurisdictions, private placements, and private equity and venture funds. * Jeremy Sharpe, an attorney adviser in the U.S. State Department's Office of the Legal Adviser. "Many students are unsure how to pursue careers in the fast-moving and complex field of international law," said Gregory Fox, Wayne Law professor and director of the Program for International Legal Studies. "This distinguished group of practitioners, which includes three Wayne Law graduates, will describe their path to a job in international practice. It will be an invaluable event for those interested in the field." The event kicks off Wayne Law's International Law Week, Sept. 19-23, a series of events aimed at informing Wayne Law students, alumni, practicing lawyers and friends of recent news, developments and opportunities in international law.
