A lawyer, a judge, and a legislative representative from Kazakhstan visited Cooley Law School in Lansing Tuesday, Oct. 18, as part of a United Nations program. The delegation met with Cooley faculty and with students who are improving access to justice. This is the second term that Cooley has hosted a foreign delegation. During spring term, the law school hosted a pair of human rights lawyers from Turkey. Cooley Law School Professor Ron Bretz, who served as host for the delegation, said that Kazakhstan is in the process of reforming its justice system and has just instituted a right to jury trial for the first time in its history.
