Kazakhstan lawyers and judges visit Cooley

Kazakhstan lawyers and judges visited Thomas M. Cooley Law School on October 18th as part of a United Nations program. They met with Professor Ron Bretz and, because they expressed an interest in meeting with students who are improving access to justice, students from the Innocence Project, the Public Defender Clinic and other interested students were asked to attend. Kazakhstan is in the process of reforming its justice system and has recently instituted a right to jury trial for the first time in its history.
