Noon BPW to present 'Jane Austen'
The Jackson Noon BPW is presenting, "Jane Austen: Her World and Ours" at a special program on Tuesday, Nov. 22, from noon to 1:15 p.m. at Cascades Manor House.
The presenter is Paula Ashley whose primary career has been at Jackson Community College, where she taught composition, American literature and women's studies for 27 years. She spent the last 18 months of her career serving as Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Everyone is invited to attend.
"This engaging glimpse into the world and writing of Jane Austen will include Austen's personal history and some historical events of the late 18th and early 19th centuries that shaped some of her best known work," a BPW spokesperson said. "We'll also look at the critical response to her novels, then and now, and the people in her life who influenced her writing."
There is a $10 charge for lunch and the program. RSVP to margaret.cunningham@comcast.net
