Michigan Supreme Court announces appointment of Ingham County Chief Judges

The Michigan Supreme Court announced the appointment of Hon. William B. Murphy as Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. His term will begin on January 1, 2012 and end on December 31, 2013.
The following judges were appointed for Chief Judge for a two year term beginning January 1, 2012:
Ingham County:
30th Circuit Court: Hon. Janelle A. Lawless
Ingham County Probate Court: Hon. R. George Economy
54A District Court: Hon. Frank J. DeLuca
54B District Court: Hon. Richard D.Ball
55th District Court: Hon.Thomas P. Boyd
Judge Collette will remain the Chief Judge of 30th Circuit Court through the end of 2011, continuing to serve the residents of Ingham County from the Mason Courthouse in 2012 and beyond.
Eaton County: Hon. Thomas K. Byerly is Chief Judge for the 56th Circuit Court, Eaton County Probate Court and 56A District Court.
Jackson County:
9th Circuit Court and Kalamazoo County Probate Court: Hon. Stephen D. Gorsalitz
8th District Court: Hon. Paul J. Bridenstine
Clinton and Gratiot County:
29th Circuit Court: Hon. Randy L. Tahvonen
Clinton County Probate Court: Hon. Lisa Sullivan
Gratiot County Probate Court: Hon. Jack T. Arnold
65A District Court: Hon. Richard D. Wells
65B District Court: Hon. Stewart D. McDonald
Under Michigan Court Rule 8.110, the chief judge's duties include overseeing the court's work, handling administrative matters, representing the court with other branches of government, and supervising court finances.
