Rep. Tlaib speaks at Cooley campus

On Friday, Nov. 18, State Representative and Thomas M. Cooley Law School graduate Rashida Tlaib (third from left) spoke on "Ethics and Politics: Contradictory Concepts?" at Cooley's Auburn Hills campus as part of the school's Integrity in the Community Speakers Series.

State Representative Tlaib, who represents Michigan's 12th District, is the first Muslim woman elected to the Michigan House of Representatives.

She spoke about her efforts to require community input and benefits as part of any plan to build a new bridge to Canada, despite the risk that powerful financial and lobbying interests might oppose her upcoming re-election bid.

Thanking Tlaib for addressing the campus were (left to right) Cooley Auburn Hills Dean John Nussbaumer, Zeinab Moughnia, Cooley Associate Dean James Robb, Cooley Center for Ethics Service & Professionalism Assistant Director Dionnie Wynter, and Christy Williams.
