Jordan Sutton Co-author of book on transitions for small business owners
By Roberta M. Gubbins
Legal News
Jordan Sutton is a financial advisor with Sutton Advisors, PLC, a law student at Thomas M. Cooley Law School and now a contributing author to the book "Being in Business is a Funny Thing -- Getting Out is Not!" from Collaborative Press.
"Being in Business" is the result of an extensive research project taken on by Collaborative Press and includes business advice from 25 leading business, estate, and financial planning experts from all over the country. The book is a multi-author project and its subtitle is "The Business Owner's Guide to Grown and Transitioning a Business."
"The reader of the book," Sutton said, "is the small business owner. It touches on all of the areas that give us the most energy - and all of the areas in which we procrastinate the most. While these areas might be different for each of us, we all have something in common. That something is what keeps us going: we are building something, we are making the world a better place, and we are taking care of our families. To be successful we must keep a broad perspective of where were are going, how we will get there, and how to transition to what's next - this book assists with all of those things. Small businesses are at the heart of the American economy."
Sutton was selected for the project based on her extensive background in the field of business and financial planning.
"It was my first writing experience," she said. "And I was fortunate to have a great editor" who helped shape her section of the book.
"Being in Business is a Funny Thing - Getting Out is Not!" may be purchased at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Bookstore by calling (517) 371-5140 or stop on in. Your total purchase price will be a contribution to the Howard Soifer Memorial Lecture Series in Sports and Entertainment Law.
''I did not have the pleasure of knowing Howard Soifer personally,' Sutton said, explaining her decision to donate the proceeds from the sales of the books, "but I have a great amount of respect for his contributions to our community and the lives of the people who knew him."
"The Howard Soifer Memorial Lecture Series in Sports and Entertainment Law is an important resource provided by Thomas M. Cooley Law School. It is evidence of the invaluable guidance that Howard gave to his business associates, clients, family, and friends. I hope that these contributions will not only be of value to funding lectures, but will also serve as a reminder to all of us of how important integrity and compassion are in all aspects of our lives.''
