Murder charges filed in elderly woman's death
ROYAL OAK (AP) -- Two people have been charged in the murder of an 80-year-old Royal Oak woman whose throat was slashed.
The Oakland County prosecutor says Alan Wood was charged Monday with first-degree murder. His alleged accomplice, Tonia Watson, was charged with murder committed during another felony. Both face life in prison if convicted.
Nancy Dailey's body was discovered in her home on Nov. 20. Wood and Watson were arrested two days later at a Meijer store for probation violations and remain in custody. They are ex-convicts. No defense attorneys have been assigned yet.
Prosecutor Jessica Cooper praised Royal Oak police and Dailey's neighbors, who helped identify the suspects.
