Douglas McClure files for Washtenaw Co. Circuit Court Judge

Douglas McClure, a partner with the Ann Arbor law firm of Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, PC, has formally announced as candidate for the Washtenaw County Circuit Court. A longtime advocate for the environment and for improving our legal system's access to justice, McClure graduated from top-ranked Berkeley Law School in 1987, cut his teeth as a litigator and environmental lawyer at two large Chicago law firms, and moved to Washtenaw County to join Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick in 1991, where he now focuses on environmental law and environmental litigation. "My 20-years with the talented and dedicated attorneys at Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick gives me a broad and deep background in the law, as well as a commitment to public service and our community," he said in a statement. McClure is in his second term on the Washtenaw County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, and serves on Ann Arbor's Solid Waste Plan Update Committee. He is also a legal educator, having taught environmental law at Ave Maria School of Law, business law at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, and currently serving as adjunct professor teaching environmental law at Cooley Law School in Ann Arbor. McClure is a pro bono volunteer attorney for Legal Services of South Central Michigan, and a volunteer attorney for the Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender. As a director-at-large of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and immediate past Chair of the Judiciary Committee, McClure spearheaded the creation of the "Law and Justice Fund" with the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation to increase access to justice in the community. He also organized bench bar conferences focusing on indigent criminal defense and access to justice. McClure was trustee of Emerson School in Ann Arbor for seven years, and is a long time member of the Public Policy Committee of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce.
