Oakland County Commissioner John A. Scott was recently elected to lead the Oakland County Airport Committee where he will serve as chairman. As chairman, he will continue to assist the airport committee in its responsibility of the county's airports, which include the Oakland County International Airport in Waterford; the Oakland/Southwest Airport in New Hudson; and the Oakland/Troy Airport in Troy.
Scott will continue to work with every facet of the county's airport division, along with the committee which includes establishing rental rates for the Hangers, "T" Hangers to the Fixed Based Operations (FBOs) as well as monitor all the county's airport activities. These activities consist of fuel sales, grant acceptance for airport improvements, to meeting FAA regulation guidelines.
The director of Central Services for Oakland County, J. David VanderVeen, who is a member of the Oakland County Airport Committee, stated "Commissioner John Scott has served on the Oakland County Airport Committee for the past six years. He has a unique perspective in that the Oakland County International Airport is located in his district. During his tenure he has been a supporter of this important County asset and has overseen the beautification of its highway frontage, completion of the noise compatibility program, and construction of Michigan's first 'green' terminal building."
"I am honored to be selected by my fellow Airport Committee members to serve as their chairman," stated Scott, who is a 9-year veteran of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. He is one of five members to serve on the Oakland County Airport Committee.
