Miller Johnson is pleased to welcome Eric R. Starck as a Member in the Grand Rapids office. His corporate practice focuses on commercial real estate, land use, zoning and environmental law.

Starck will continue his successful practice representing clients in the acquisition, development, construction, leasing, and sale of property. He earned his J.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2001 and a B.A. from the Western Michigan University.

Starck recently served as the chair of the real estate practice group of another Grand Rapids law firm.

In 2009, he was recognized as one of 20 attorneys as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. In both 2009 and 2010, he was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers.

He was chosen as 2010 Affiliate Member of the Year by the Commercial Alliance of Realtors, and is a past president of the West Michigan Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Grand Rapids Legal News readers may remember that Starck is an avid runner and triathlon competitor. Late in 2011, he qualified to compete in the 2012 World Iron Man Contest, held in Hawaii.

At the time of his qualifying competition in Madison, Wisc., Starck contended that regular running and athletic training have improved his legal skills and capacity, a proposition backed up by years of independent research on triathlon competitors.
