Stepmother gets life in death of 2-year-old girl
MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) -- A Detroit-area woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the sexual assault and murder of her 2-year-old stepdaughter.
A Macomb County Circuit Court jury convicted Renee King of felony murder, criminal sexual conduct and child abuse in late February.
She was sentenced Tuesday. The murder conviction carries an automatic penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Authorities say Lily Wolfenbarger-Furneaux was killed Nov. 20, 2010, in King's New Haven mobile home.
Lily died from multiple blunt force blows to her head and had a vaginal injury.
On Tuesday, mother Lauren Furneaux told the court she'll "never see Lily's first day of school" or her wedding day. Furneaux says King won't see those things with her children, either.
