Wayne County Circuit Court is launching the second phase of its E-filing project for court cases. The court will increase the scope of its E-filing project to include almost all of its commercial litigation starting on Monday, May 21.
Anyone will be able to file documents with Wayne County Circuit Court from virtually anyplace with internet access at any time of day. Since the project's inception, more than 12,000 documents in contract cases have been filed electronically.
Chief Judge Virgil C. Smith explained, "E-filing provides improved customer service and cost effective administration that saves scarce tax payer dollars. This innovative new system includes free registration through an easy self-service process, 24 hour-a-day filing, multiple courtesy copies at no additional charge, and the elimination of printing, copying, packaging, and delivery of paper documents."
The court and the Wayne County Clerk have set up E-filing kiosks which are available in Room 201 of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. There, all users will have access to a computer and scanner.
Training sessions for the public will be held online. For further information on registering for training sessions and E-filing rules, visit the Wayne County Circuit Court website at www.3rdcc.org.
