Former member of Michigan Protectors ordered to trial
FLINT (AP) -- A judge has ordered a costumed ex-member of the Michigan Protectors group of so-called real-life superheroes to stand trial in an assault case.
Adam Besso goes by the nickname "Bee Sting." The 36-year-old Sterling Heights resident is charged with the discharge of a shotgun in a Flint-area mobile home park.
A district court judge on Wednesday ruled there was enough evidence to send Besso's case to Genesee County Circuit Court. He's charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and wearing body armor during the commission of a violent crime.
Defense lawyer Clint Perryman says his client acted in self-defense.
Besso was arrested last month in Burton. The Flint Journal has said Besso was wearing a bulletproof vest, a black leather jacket with a bee logo, shin guards and knee pads.
