Rhoades McKee, WZZM 13, Spartan Stores, Country Fresh, and Christian Brothers Automotive are working together to help families in West Michigan with the annual “Food for Families” Campaign.

The law firm became a new partner in the then-10-year-old food drive in 2010, in honor of Rhoades McKee’s 50th anniversary. At that time, Mary Jane Rhoades, attorney, and Robin Burns, Marketing Manager, appeared on TV-13’s Take Five to announce the sponsorship; Rhoades McKee has continued its partnership in 2011 and, now, in 2012.

From June 11 through June 18, Rhoades McKee and the other sponsors encourage the West Michigan community to donate canned goods and non-perishables to local food pantries.  Donations can be conveniently purchased and dropped at any Spartan Store location. Those locations can be found at www.spartanstores.com.

This year, the organizations are putting their resources to work in an effort to meet the goal of 200,000 pounds of food.   The donations will be distributed to the pantries by Access of West Michigan, a non-profit organization whose goal it is to connect people in need with resources.

Suggested pantry donations include peanut butter, soup, cereal, powdered milk, canned fruit, canned vegetables, chili, navy & pinto beans, rice, pasta products, spaghetti sauce (plastic containers), boxed dinners, canned meat and personal care items (dish soap, laundry soap, bar soap, toilet paper, diapers).

Rhoades McKee shareholder Marty Buschle appears in a slick 30-second public service announcement encouraging people to donate.
