SAVE Task Force hosts 7th annual elder abuse awareness event, June 15
On Friday, June 15, from noon to 1:30 pm, the Oakland County SAVE (Serving Adults who are Vulnerable and/or Elderly) Task Force will host the 7th Annual International Day of Elder Abuse Awareness Event.
The event will be conducted in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Auditorium, Oakland County Courthouse, 1200 North Telegraph in Pontiac. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and a light luncheon will be provided. Maura Corrigan, director of the Michigan Department of Human Services will be the keynote speaker.
"This program salutes the unsung heroes who have stepped forward to respond to the ever growing problem of elder abuse," remarked Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Edward Sosnick, co-founder of SAVE.
SAVE's Courage Awards will be presented to the following: Micheline Sommers of Oakland Family Services, HAVEN, and The Center for Elder Law of Michigan. The Courage Awards are presented each year to individuals and organizations who have shown the courage to lead others or speak out against the abuse and exploitation of our vulnerable citizens.
