The Oakland County Clerk's Mobile Office will be at the Birmingham Farmers Market on Sunday, July 15, announced Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Bill Bullard Jr.
Anyone who lives in the area or surrounding communities is welcome. The Mobile Office will be available from 10 a.m. to noon at the Birmingham Farmers Market. The market is held at the corner of North Old Woodward Ave. and Vinewood Ave. in downtown Birmingham.
"We are excited to offer this additional service for busy Oakland County taxpayers," Bullard said. "Many busy people simply just don't have the time to make it to our office during the workweek and we are trying to find better ways to serve them."
The National Association of Counties recently awarded six awards to the Oakland County Clerks' office for innovation and customer service. One of the awards received was for this weekend farmers market hours project which was piloted last year.
The Mobile Office is a no-frills operation. Employees set up shop with laptop computers and printers so they can provide customers with on-the-spot copies of birth certificates, death certificates and other public records. Normal copy fees apply. Citizens can access many services, including:
* Certified Copies of Birth, Death and Marriage Records.
* Marriage License Applications.
* Notary Public Applications.
* Registration of Assumed Names and Co-Partnerships.
* Military Discharge Forms.
* Copies of Property Records and Deeds.
* Oakland County Circuit Court Records.
* Identity Protection Information.
* Voter Registration.
* Absentee Ballot Application Forms.
Bullard stressed there is no additional expense associated with the Mobile Office because resources, including employees and computers, are simply being redeployed in regional locations.
"Our job is to provide citizens the best possible service at the lowest possible cost, whether we are serving them in their community, or at our main office in the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac."
