Jackson Annual Farmfest educates, entertains, Sept. 15

The Jackson County Agriculture Council will hold its annual free Family Farmfest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the northwestern portion of the county. Three sites will host the event and open their farms to the public to get a behind the scenes look at agriculture. ''Farmfest is going to be a little different than years in the past,'' said Lindsay Westin, the 2012 Farmfest coordinator. "This year there are only three participating farms, but the amount to be learned and the fun to be had will be equivalent to previous years." The participating farms include Elder Creek Farm, 28355 W Drive North, Springport; Springview Farm, 11120 Eaton Rapids Rd., Springport; and Water Crest Farm, 12301 Kimler Road, Eaton Rapids.
