Operation Nighthawk

Twenty two people face probation violation proceedings as a result of the most recent 55th District Court Probation OPERATION NIGHTHAWK. The program is conducted on a random basis after business hours to monitor defendants on probation. The sweeps, which occurred July 14th, 20th and 22nd, 2012 were a joint effort between the probation department and local law enforcement. Nine probationers were arrested: five on outstanding warrants and four probationers were arrested for being under the influence of alcohol. "Unannounced sweeps coordinated in conjunction with the dedicated staff of our probation office and the law enforcement officers of Ingham County Sheriff's Office, Mason and the Meridian Township police departments, are the backbone of Operation Nighthawk. These sweeps encourage probationers to comply with their probation orders, knowing that law enforcement will use it's resources to enforce the terms of their probation to help our communities remain free of crime," said 55th District Court Chief Judge Thomas P. Boyd. "We are thankful for the dedication of the officers from each agency that contribute to this important effort." During the most recent Operation Nighthawk, the teams checked a total of 116 local addresses. There were 52 people found at home in compliance and 12 probationers face violation proceedings for failing to comply with their curfew. Probationers who were not found at home are required to submit to additional testing to document their sobriety and face violations if they fail to comply. Published: Thu, Aug 30, 2012
