Brawl at court leads to man's Tasering, two arrests

SHELBY TOWNSHIP (AP) — Authorities say police used a Taser to subdue a man and made two arrests during a disturbance in a district court in Macomb County’s Shelby Township.

Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis says two groups were in the court building Tuesday afternoon about a harassment complaint in their neighborhood.

He tells the Detroit Free Press that members of the groups were pushing each other when officers from Shelby Township, Utica and the Macomb County sheriff’s department stepped in.

Stathakis says no one was seriously injured. He says three people were taken into custody, but one was released.

Charges against a man and woman include assault and battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
