Lecture looks at effects of War on Terrorism

 Wayne State University Law School’s Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights continued its ongoing program examining the the war on terrorism and respect for individual liberties on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Wayne Law’s Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium.  

Guest speaker Jules Lobel (right), president of the Center for Constitutional Rights and professor at the Pittsburgh School of Law, discussed “Victory Without Success: Has the Guantanamo Litigation Led to Permanent Wartime Preventive Detention?”  

Welcoming Lobel to the lecture was Wayne Law Prof. Peter Hammer (left), director of the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights.  

“Given the diversity in our community and the importance of the Arab American and Muslim American community in southeast Michigan, we view this as a part of our service to the community in raising critical issues and advancing the debate and discussion of these important topics,” Hammer noted.
