Committee presents 'Business Law 101'

 The Oakland County Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee will present “Business Law 101” on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Oakland County Bar Center, 1760 S. Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

 
Earlier this year, the Continuing Legal Education Committee surveyed the members of the Solo Practitioner/Small Firm Listserv and the New Lawyers Committee,.Using the results of the survey, the CLE committee developed this seminar to help attorneys better serve their clients when they open and/or establish a business.
 
Topics of discussion will include:
 
• Choice of business entity.
 
• Nuts and bolts of forming a corporation or LLC.
 
• Raising capital for small business (private placements, venture capital, angel investors).
 
• Resources for Michigan lawyers and small businesses.
 
The speakers will be Gail H. Straith of Gail H. Straith PLLC, Richard C. Bruder of Enterprise Law Partners PLLC, and Ernest I. Gifford of Gifford, Krass, Sprinkle, Anderson, & Citkowski PC.
 
Cost for those who pre-register is $120 for OCBA members; $85 for OCBA new lawyers; and $160 for non-members.  Cost at the door is $160 for OCBA members; $110 for OCBA new lawyers; and $210 for non-members.
