Affordable Health Care Act focus of panel, Oct. 17

By Christine L. Mobley Legal News On Wednesday, Oct. 17, Cooley Law School's Auburn Hills campus will host an Affordable Health Care Act Panel from noon to 1 p.m. in room AH 145. This free event, which is open to the public, is designed to help law students, new lawyers and those interested in health care law and is presented by Cooley's Health Law Society. According to Cooley Law Associate Professor Monica Navarro, "The panel seeks to educate law students about the impact that the Affordable Care Act (PPACA), now upheld by the Supreme Court, will have on society at large and them individually. "We have a great line-up of experts on the topic representing all stakeholder categories, consisting of Julea Ferrara, a health care consultant; Saif Kasmikha, general counsel for Doctor's Hospital of Michigan; State Representative Mark Corriveau; Bruce Henderson, general counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Health Care Value; Steven Hernandez, southeast Michigan coordinator and fund development officer for Michigan Consumers for Healthcare, a coalition working to coordinate strategy for PPACA's implementation." Although there is no cost to attend and no pre-registration required, an RSVP would be appreciated. Those with additional questions may contact Mohsin Khan, Cooley Health Law Society president, at khanmoh@cooley.edu. Published: Fri, Oct 12, 2012
