Reception features 'Green Card Stories'

Fakhoury Law Group PC, a Troy-based business immigration law firm and an equity partner in the Alliance of Business Immigration Lawyers, along with Global Detroit hosted a special reception featuring the new award-winning book “Green Card Stories” on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.

The event, “Green Card Stories: The Human Face of the Immigration Debate” featured distinguished speakers and a panel discussion on the state of the U.S. immigration policy.

Rami D. Fakhoury (left) of Fakhoury Law Group PC was happy to welcome immigration lawyers (left to right) Laura Danielson and Steve Yale-Loehr, collaborators on the book.

“‘Green Card Stories’ is book of 50 immigrants—a coffee table-style book with a thousand word essay on each page to accompany the story,” said Danielson.  “Our purpose is to convey to Americans that immigration hasn’t changed.  We’ve got the same spirit of entreprenuership and can-do that has always existed with our immigrants in the past. And we hope that the immigration policies in this country will shift to be a little more positive.”

The Alliance of Business Immigration Lawyers provided the seed money to carry out this project.

All proceeds of the sale of the book at the event will go to Global Detroit, an effort to revitalize southeast Michigan’s economy by pursuing strategies that strengthen Detroit’s connections to the world and make the region more attractive and welcoming to immigrants, internationals, and foreign trade and investment as a means to produce jobs and regional economic growth.
