Pleadings and plausibility discussed at FBA event

The Rules & Civil Practice Committee of the Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present "Pleadings in the New Era of 'Plausibility'" on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 115 of the T. Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. Over the past few years, the Supreme Court displaced the old "no set of facts" pleading standard with a "plausibility" test. In a session moderated by Dan Sharkey, U.S. District Judges Avern Cohn and Robert H. Cleland will discuss their views on how this heightened standard affects their analysis of pleadings, and the corresponding "dos" and don'ts" for civil practitioners. Cost for the event is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. To register, visit www.fbamich.org and click on "events." For additional information, call 248-594-5950 or email fbamich@fbamich.org.
