The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation (WLAMF) hosted its reception for Education and Community Leadership on Wednesday, March 20, at the Local Kitchen & Bar in Ferndale.
Among those enjoying the event were (left to right) Huntington Woods Attorney Nancy Glen; U.S. District Court Judge Victoria Roberts, Eastern District of Michigan; Dawn Van Hoek, chief deputy director of the State Appellate Defender Office; Thomas M. Cooley Law School Dean John Nussbaumer; and Susie Schechter, executive director of Reading Works who spoke at the reception.
Attendees were invited to bring a self-help or children’s book to donate to Reading Works which is dedicated to raising the level of adult literacy in metro Detroit.
Also during the reception, the WLAMF recognized its Community Honoree Just the Beginning Foundation which is aimed at inspiring young students and increasing diversity in the legal profession
