'Mega Rule' examined at briefing

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently released the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Act) “Mega Rule.”

Butzel Long attorneys discussed the HIPAA “Mega Rule” and what healthcare providers and vendors need to know during a Breakfast Briefing program presented in partnership with Automation Alley on Friday, March 22, in Troy.

Taking part in the program were Butzel Long’s (left to right) Mark Lezotte, Jennifer Dukarski, Robert H. Schwartz, Tom Shaevsky, and Debra Geroux.

“These are significant changes that impact those who not only service patients, but those who are vendors to providers at all levels who come into contact with protected health information,” said Schwartz.

“Now is the time for healthcare providers and those who otherwise come into contact with health information to fully understand the implications of the HIPAA ‘Mega Rule.’”
