Schiff Hardin LLP has added a team of state and local taxation attorneys to the firm's Ann Arbor office.
Joanne B. Faycurry (partner), Samuel J. McKim III (of counsel), Sarah G. Deson-Fried (counsel) and Jackie J. Cook (associate) all join Schiff Hardin from Miller Canfield P.L.C. in Detroit. They represent multi-state corporate clients, including Discount Tire, Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Masco Corporation, in national, state and local tax matters.
"We are enthused about the addition of these highly talented attorneys to our growing Ann Arbor office," said Gregory L. Curtner, coordinating partner of Schiff Hardin's Ann Arbor office. "This group brings extensive knowledge and wide-ranging experience in state and local tax matters. Joanne, Sam, Sarah and Jackie provide us with an exciting new dimension to serve both our local and national clients."
Schiff Hardin's new team of attorneys is experienced in tax planning, counseling and litigation in all state and local tax areas.
Faycurry has more than 25 years of experience in a wide range of state and local taxation matters. Her state tax practice focuses on controversy and litigation work as well as state tax planning with respect to all state-levied taxes.

He counsels clients and assists them with tax planning, opinion work, and trial and appellate appeals. McKim is particularly interested in cases involving state and local tax issues of first impression, as well as cases involving complex legal and factual issues.
Deson-Fried has extensive experience practicing transactional real estate law on a national basis. She has represented a wide variety of clients, including buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, borrowers, lenders, developers, franchisors and franchisees in connection with office, industrial, retail, residential and multi-family real estate matters.
Cook represents taxpayers in state tax controversy matters and property tax appeals before the Michigan Supreme Court, Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Court of Claims and Michigan Tax Tribunal. In her litigation and tax planning practice, Cook has analyzed complicated and unique tax issues related to sales and use tax, Michigan's Corporate Income Tax, the repealed Michigan Business Tax and the repealed Single Business Tax.
