54-B District Court focuses on customers

EAST LANSING, MI--The East Lansing 54-B District Court, 101 Linden St., is increasing its focus on customer service in 2013.
Staffing levels decreased during the past few years because of state budget cuts and the court has had to learn to operate more efficiently with less clerical staff. Fewer staff has meant longer lines at the counter for persons having business with the court.
This year, the court reopened its counter for walk-in traffic, criminal and parking customers over the lunch hour. Customers can come in and be served from 8-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
But a trip to the court may not always be necessary. Payments in full for traffic and parking tickets can be made on the Court's website, www.54b districtcourt.com. Records searches and the judges' dockets are also now online at www.54bdistrictcourt.com. The "Register of Actions" of all public court files are accessible, along with all public cases scheduled before the court's judges.
More customer services via the website will be added in 2013. The next project will allow those cited with civil infractions to contest tickets online and obtain court hearing notification via email.
