Shoe-collecting effort extended through May

FARMINGTON HILLS (AP) -- An effort undertaken by a Detroit-area men's clothing store and a nonprofit to collect footwear for the homeless has been extended through May.
The Shirt Box and Heart 2 Hart Detroit are working together on the "Soles for the City" campaign, which got under way in early April.
Organizers say more than 500 pairs of shoes were donated in the first three weeks of the campaign.
Those interested in donating new and gently used shoes and boots can do so at The Shirt Box in Farmington Hills.
Collected items will be distributed by Heart 2 Hart Detroit to those in need.
