Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss PC’s Women’s Caucus Group was honored by the Michigan Women’s Foundation with the 2013 Women’s Resource Center Award. Jaffe CEO Bill Sider proudly made the announcement.
Jaffe’s Women’s Caucus Group was selected for the inaugural award for their exemplary leadership, service and vision that will shape the future of generations to come in Michigan and beyond.
“To be recognized by the Michigan Women’s Foundation is a true honor for the organization and the women at Jaffe,” said Sarah Weston, Jaffe partner and co-chair of the Women’s Caucus Group. “Our efforts are motivated by the high standards we set for ourselves, and we are continuously identifying new opportunities and avenues to surpass them by working and learning together.”
Founded in 1998, Jaffe’s Women’s Caucus Group is a growing organization aimed at helping women at the firm manage work-life balance, participate in community outreach, and gain valuable self-marketing and business skills. Throughout the year the group organizes and hosts ongoing programming and events, including roundtables with prominent Michigan women business leaders, mentoring events, and educational seminars.
“In addition to our busy corporate lives, serving our community is an important pillar for our group,” said Alicia Schehr, Jaffe partner and co-chair of the Women’s Caucus Group.
“By connecting with other female business leaders and giving back, we can collectively empower women to achieve their career ambitions.”
Just recently, the group hosted The Detroit International Academy for Young Women, the first and only all girls public school in Detroit, for a mentor and leadership seminar. The scholastic partnership is designed to encourage and inspire young women interested in a career in the legal field. At the event, more than 20 young women discovered the various practice areas and departments within a law firm, met with attorneys for individual mentoring sessions, and participated in an educational roundtable about applying to law school and internships. At the end of the event, students received donated, gently used suits for future career opportunities and interviews in addition to other inspirational books and gifts.
