Monroe-area man enters plea in father's slaying

MONROE, Mich. (AP) -- A southeastern Michigan man faces 10 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the strangulation death of his father. The Monroe Evening News reports 27-year-old David Killian III is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8 after entering the plea in the Feb. 3 death. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a charge of open murder. Killian was arrested after David Killian II's body was found in the basement of his son's home in Carleton, about 30 miles southwest of Detroit. Police say an argument started after the father went to the house to check on his son and 3-year-old granddaughter. The girl wasn't hurt. Published: Mon, Jul 15, 2013
