Wayne Law to debut Alumni Speaker Series

"Starting Your Own Firm" will be the first topic for the new Alumni Speaker Series at the Wayne State University Law School.
Three Wayne Law alumni will be part of the first panel discussion from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in the Lecture Hall (Room 2242) of the law school's Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights, 471 W. Palmer St. Lunch will be provided. Register by emailing brianna.fritz@wayne.edu.
Wayne Law Dean Jocelyn Benson will lead the discussion, which is sponsored by the Dean's Office. Speakers who will share their experiences and advice are:
--Nadia Hamade of Grosse Pointe Farms, class of 2012, Attorney Source PLC.
--Gerald Thurswell of Bloomfield Hills, class of 1967, Thurswell Law.
--Lisa Walinske of Detroit, class of 2000, ReDetroit East Community Law Center.
In February, Benson told students in a State of the Law School address that one of her goals as dean was to encourage alumni to help students network and connect to the jobs they want.
"This is how we are going to use our incredible resources of alumni to work with students and build connections to help further your career," she told students during the address.
