Duly Noted

 In Memoriam: John D. Dunn

Warner Norcross and Judd attorney John D. Dunn died on Nov. 6, following a long and courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.

Dunn focused his practice in environmental law, with an emphasis on Superfund issues and cleanup law, hazardous waste and real estate transactions.  His colleagues remember him as an excellent attorney, quiet and “rock steady” with a passion for client service.

He received his Bachelors Degree in 1978 from the University of Illinois as a Bronze Tablet Scholar, with University Honors. He also attended University of Illinois for his Juris Doctor, graduating magna cum laude in 1981. He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1981.

He was named to Michigan Super Lawyers from 2006 to 2013 and honored in Environmental Law by Best Lawyers in America from 1995-2013.

He was active in the Environmental Law Section of the American Bar Association, serving as Vice Chair of the Superfund and Hazardous Waste Committee, as well as of the State Bar of Michigan, where he was a council member, and chair and vice-chair of the Superfund Committee.

Dunn was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini.

“John exemplified what we value most at Warner Norcross,” said Warner’s Managing Partner Doug Wagner.  “More than a great attorney, he was a kind and gentle man who never asked for more than he gave and who was respectful to everyone he met.  We are better because of him and will sorely miss his companionship.”

The legal community celebrated his life on Nov. 19 at the downtown Sundance Grill.
