County wins fiscal reporting award again

Oakland County has garnered the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Fiscal Year 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This is the 22nd consecutive year the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States anOØ Canada has given top recognition to Oakland County.

The CAFR discloses the county's finances in full detail to anyone who wants to review them, particularly those who seek to invest in Oakland County. The GFOA awards the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to governments ''whose comprehensive annual financial reports achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting.''

"Winning the CAFR award for 22 consecutive years is tremendous," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "It truly reflects the hard work of the county's entire Fiscal Services Division which continues to put Oakland on the map every year."

Fiscal Services Manager Tim Soave agrees.

"Literally everyone in Fiscal Services has a hand in compiling the CAFR," Soave said.
