Michigan Adoption Day was observed last month with a variety of events across the state and Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano (second from left) was on hand to take part in the Macomb County celebration.
Viviano, who served on the Macomb County Circuit Court bench before he was named to the high court early this year, was welcomed by (left to right) Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Kathryn Viviano, Macomb County Circuit Court Chief Judge John Foster, and Macomb County Probate Court Judge Kathryn George.
Foster said the observance highlights the fact that people “can look forward to the future, bring children into their lives and give them a chance to have great opportunities.”
Monique Goetgeluk, a circuit court adoption caseworker, said the occasion was aimed at building awareness among the state, the court, local adoption agencies, community partners, advocacy organizations, and fostering parents “that Macomb County supports every step of the way.”
