Adult Treatment Court celebrates graduation
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m., the Oakland County Adult Treatment Court (ATC) will conduct its 37th graduation since its inception in August of 2001.
The 156th through the 159th graduates will be honored with a ceremony and reception to be held in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Auditorium, Oakland County Courthouse,1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac.
The Oakland County ATC is a treatment-driven court using alternative legal procedures for non-violent adult felony offenders with a history of drug and/or alcohol abuse or dependence.
The ATC recognizes that many offenders with substance use disorders also have co-morbid mental health problems. The ATC works with the offender to break the cycle of addiction, criminal activity with jail/prison detention and stabilize mental health issues.
