Center announces facilitation training for mediators
Oakland Mediation Center (OMC), the local training expert in facilitation and mediation, has a new one-day seminar to inspire mediators, managers, supervisors, team leaders, and any other meeting facilitators. OMC's "Facilitation Skills from Mediations to Meetings" training will be delivered on Friday, May 16, by Zena Zumeta of the Mediation Training & Consultation Institute.
In this multi-faceted, State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved training, participants will gain the facilitation skills necessary to run successful mediations and meetings. By using discussion, videos, and demonstrations participants will build on the elements of communication, problem-solving, and facilitation skills that are used in both group mediations and meetings. Participants will also apply these valuable skills learned in a role-play setting.
This training is ideal for any mediator who has completed a 40-hour Mediator Training as approved by SCAO and wishes to enhance their mediation skill set or for those who need to fulfill the circuit court mediator requirement of 8 hours of advanced training every 2 years. This training is also perfect for any individual who is responsible for facilitating meetings and group discussions, including multi-party mediations. The training cost is $325. Register by Wednesday, April 16, and receive a $50 discount.
"OMC trainings are great for content but also for the excellent mediation and facilitation techniques modeled by the presenters," stated Bonnie Hanes, executive director of Oakland Mediation Center. "People will be blown away with the knowledge and skills taught in our trainings."
OMC also offers 40-Hour General Civil and Domestic Mediator Trainings (DMT) as well as Advanced Mediator Training to any individual who wishes to learn and enhance their skills to help others workout their disputes. Mediation training can enhance one's current skill set and marketability, allow one to be eligible for the court roster list of approved mediators and improve communication and negotiating skills personally and professionally. Upcoming General Civil Mediator training is scheduled in May with DMT following in September.
Trainings taught at OMC are approved by SCAO and are designed to be highly interactive and skill based. The trainings take place at the Oakland Mediation Center in Bloomfield Hills and include continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and course materials. For additional information about the trainings, contact the Oakland Mediation Center training department at 248-338-4280, ext. 216 or visit their website at www.mediation-omc.org.
