New mediators graduate

Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) conducted a graduation ceremony for its tenth class of mediators from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Auburn Hills campus, on Wednesday, April 9, at the OMC offices in Bloomfield Hills.

OMC Education Manager Kenzi Bisbing (standing, far left), OMC Executive Director Bonnie Hanes (second from right) and Cooley Acting Assistant Dean Frank Aiello (far right) were happy to congratulate the students at the ceremony which included (seated, left to right) Cara Kirkpatrick, Debroah Saybolt, Steven Batsikouras, Matthew Flynn, and Alexander Cavanaugh; along with (standing, left to right) John Toth, Guilliana Yatooma, Justin Ebel, Mina Ghabryal, Andrew Laurila, Neha Vinayak, Darcy Shurtz, Callana Davis, and Jeff Shanks.

The class of Cooley students participated in this program as a result of a partnership between OMC and Cooley.  The program was developed in an effort to increase the number of mediators available to resolve conflicts in Oakland County without the need for court intervention. Students were given the opportunity to learn and to practice mediation skills.
