Jail Diversion Advisory Team featured at lecture

The Criminal Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association continued its Anatomy of a Criminal Case—Year XVI brown bag lunch lecture series with a look at the “Oakland County Jail Diversion Advisory Team (JDAT)” on Tuesday, May 20, at the Oakland County Bar Center in Bloomfield Hills.

Taking part in the program were (left to right)?Lisa Dunn, Oakland County Community Mental Health liaison; OCBA Criminal Law Committee Chair Timothy Flynn of Karlstrom Cooney LLP; and Wendy Standifer, director of Behavior Health Services for Eastern Seals.

The program offered an overview of Oakland County Community Mental Health services for jail inmates and recently released inmates.

“Attorneys can help with pre-book and post-book jail diversion,” noted Standifer.  “They can help link and coordinate their clients to services to keep them out of the criminal justice system.”
