Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section to host annual day of education, June 20

The State Bar of Michigan Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section will present the 2014 Day of Education from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Met Hotel in Troy. This year's theme, "The Walking Day of Ed," focuses on the skills needed to survive a legal apocalypse.
The Day of Education will begin with a keynote address by State Bar of Michigan President Brian Einhorn. The rest of the day will feature seminars on such topics as "Criminal Law," "Estate Planning for Non-Traditional Families," "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act," "Everything You Need to Know About Reviewing Employees' Social Media Information But Were Afraid to Ask," "Estate Planning (It's Not Just About What Happens After You're Dead)," and "Overview Condominium/Community Associations."
The Day of Education will be followed by "The Walking Night of Fun," a casual networking event. The reception is $25 for those registered for the Annual Day of Education and $35 for everyone else. The event will feature appetizers, and attendees are encouraged to wear zombie apocalypse attire, or casual attire such as shorts, t-shirts and jeans.
The cost to attend the day of education is $75 for SBM Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section members, $95 for non-members and $65 for students, if registered before June 13. There will be a $110 late fee for all registrations received after June 13.
To register for this event, visit Annual Day of Education. For more information, contact Marianne Delaney at mdelane6@ford.com. Additional information about the section can be accessed online at michbar.org/paralegal/home.cfm.
