Dykema re-elects U-M grad as CEO

Dykema announced last week that Peter Kellett has been re-elected chairman and chief executive officer of the firm for a second three-year term commencing on Jan. 1, 2015. Kellett has served as chairman and chief executive officer since Jan. 1, 2012.

Kellett previously served the firm as Litigation Practice Group leader (2003-07) and as its Litigation Department director (2008-11). Prior to becoming chair of the firm, he also served for many years as trial counsel for some of the nation’s largest corporations, enjoying successes in courtrooms across the country and close relationships with many of the firm’s major clients.
Kellett earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. Upon graduation from law school in 1982, Kellett joined Dykema as an associate in the Litigation Department. In 1986, he joined the legal staff at Dykema client CMI Corporation, a leasing and finance company in Bloomfield Hills. After the sale of that company in 1987, Kellett co-founded with James P. Feeney a boutique product liability litigation practice in Bloomfield Hills that ultimately grew to 24 lawyers, until 2003 when the majority of that firm joined Dykema. He is an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a Sustaining Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a life member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America and has been regularly recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer.
