Michigan jobless rate up 0.2 points to 7.7 percent

LANSING (AP) - The state says Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 7.7 percent in the latest month.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget released the July employment report Wednesday. It says the jobless rate was 7.5 percent in June and 9 percent in July 2013.
The national unemployment rate for July was 6.2 percent, up 0.1 percentage points from June as more people entered the workforce.
The state says that Michigan's civilian labor force remained stable at 4.744 million in July. It says the number of people working fell 7,000 to 4.38 million.
The state says 364,000 Michigan residents were unemployed but actively seeking work last month.
