Conyers to moderate discussion on shooting of Ferguson, Mo., youth

Representative John Conyers Jr. (D-13th District) will join Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony, president of the Detroit Branch NAACP, for a community discussion today on the background of the tragic shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. The event will take place today from 6-8 p.m. at Fellowship Chapel, 7707 Outer Drive in Detroit.
Conyers will moderate the panel of community leaders from the Detroit Chapter of the NAACP, Arab-American Civil Rights League, American Civil Liberties Union, Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, Detroit Police Chief James Craig, Detroit Police Commissioner Donnell White, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, and two youths. Other invited guests include: U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade, members of the Michigan Congressional delegation, and other elected officials.
The issue to be raised involves "How do we reduce violence against minority youths, particularly African American, Hispanic, and Latino."
