Oakland Mediation Center (OMC), a non-profit organization that is committed to the peaceful resolution of conflict through community mediation and education, was the winner of Thornton & Grooms’ Hearts & Heroes Award contest for the month of July.
The Hearts & Heroes contest of Thornton & Grooms, a local, family-owned and operated business, provides assistance to local charitable organizations or groups in need that are giving back to their community by donating $1,000 to their cause.
OMC was announced the winner of the Hearts & Heroes contest after receiving the majority of the public votes in July. OMC was presented with the $1,000 award from Thornton & Grooms on Monday, Aug. 11, at Thornton & Grooms’ headquarters in Farmington Hills.
The company’s executive management team (in back) presented Bonnie Hanes (front, right), OMC executive director, and Pamela E. Sawhney (front, left), OMC Board of Trustees president, with the $1,000 check award for the Hearts & Heroes contest.
“This online voting experience has been very engaging for OMC’s friends and family,” said Hanes. “We are all thrilled that we won! We have had extensive cutbacks recently and this money will allow OMC to continue to deliver our important services at little to no cost to the residents of Oakland County.”
